Acupuncture can be used to help treat a wide range of conditions and health problems. It is also often used as a preventative health measure and as a way to promote good health. The conditions listed here are not an exhaustive list so please contact Pauline Moffatt directly for a free 5-10 minute phone consultation about your particular case.
In addition to musculoskeletal conditions acupuncture can help treat headaches, migraines, high blood pressure, insomnia, menopausal symptoms, menstural problems, fertility problems, pregnancy-related conditions (nausea, backpain…), IBS and digestive problems, anxiety, stress, depression, tiredness, asthma & allergies, help with smoking cessation and many other conditions.
The British Medical Acupuncture Society (BMAS) says that although acupuncture is “mainly used to treat musculoskeletal pain, including myofascial or muscle ‘trigger point’ pain, it is also effective for postoperative pain and nausea”. BMAS list the following conditions that acupuncture can treat successfully:
Musculoskeletal pain; e.g. back, shoulder, neck and leg pain, headaches, migraines, trapped nerves, chronic muscle strains, various kinds of rheumatic and arthritic pain, functional bowel, IBS, mild forms of urinary incontinence, hay fever, perennial allergic rhinitis, urticaria or prickly heat, discrete rashes and ulcers, pruritus (itching), some forms of dermatitis, sinus problems and chronic catarrh, dry mouth and eyes, smoking cessation, menstrual and menopausal symptoms.
BMAS: “This is not a complete list and many other conditions have been treated with acupuncture” - British Medical Acupuncture Society.
