Acupuncture for fertility help (natural & assisted IVF)

Acupuncture can have a positive effect on those trying to conceive, both naturally and through assisted methods. There are many factors which may cause infertility, such as stress, irregular hormone levels and disrupted menstrual cycles. As a holistic therapy, acupuncture can help to identify underlying health issues and aims to restore the body’s natural balance. Male fertility can also improve with regular acupuncture treatment.

IVF and acupuncture
It is recommended that you begin having acupuncture sessions a number of months before you even start IVF treatment. However even if this is not possible, just starting acupuncture shortly before your IVF treatment begins can help to make a difference to the treatment outcome. It is especially important to have acupuncture shortly before and after your IVF transfer, ideally on the same day.

The British Acupuncture Council recently interviewed TV presenter Clare Nasir. She talks about using acupuncture in conjunction with IVF.  Watch Clare Nasir’s interview here (February 2012).

You can also watch a British Acupuncture Council video clip on You Tube about pregnancy nausea and acupuncture .  Susan discusses Hyperemesis gravidarum (HG), an acute condition causing nausea and vomiting that occurs during pregnancy, with her BAcC acupuncturist.
